PANIC LEFTIST - FRAME FIVE    

UTICA ROSE -- whoever you are -- who is intellectually arrogant?  Those
who put their discourses in the pubic space for an open critique or you
who ask us to "translate" our discourses into a language which is
convenient to you?  At the heart of intellectual arrogance is solipsism
and it is hard to find a more exemplary instance of bourgeois solipsism
than the one you display in your text. Your philistine
anti-intellectualism is the measure of the "authentic" left.  Any
discourse that transgresses the boundaries of your ignorance is fraudulent
-- the universe (of discourses) evolve around your tiny little world...
It is in such moments of solipsistic totalitarianism that the politics of
"style," "transparency," and , above all, the slogan of change "from
below" (that mandates speaking and thinking only in the commonsense of
ideology) becomes more clear.  By "from below" (which is supposed to be a
critique of the elitism of "theory", it turns out, what is actually meant
is the "below" of ME... so ME in my ignorance do not feel
lost...confused...  
	Utica Rose -- whoever you are -- if you were not so secure in your
ignorance, you would have realized that "uncle" (as in "Uncle Lou") has
nothing to do with "age".  It has to do with the ahistorical views and
interpretations that he puts forth when he wraps these panhistorical
hallucinations in "dates," "places," "remembrances"...and represents them
as "history" -- e.g. his idea of "performative left"...  Utica Rose --
whoever you are -- you can rest secure that you are not alone in your
philistine anti-intellectualism and defensiveness: Scott McLemee -- the
agent of LINGUA FRANCA which is the moral equivalent of NATIONAL INQUIRER
in the academy -- tells you that he is your brother-in-ignorance. Theory
is "gray", "life" (code word for ignorance) is "green". He says he reads
REALLY difficult texts...he must mean by "reading" than he "sees"
difficult texts since there is no trace of these difficult texts in his
thinking here or in the LINGUA INQUIRER FRANCA...
