I won't be part of such a discussion... Let's go ahead and leave the moral and ethical entailments of your "dynamite diplomacy" aside, since morality and ethics seem to have no bearing on your position. Let's just look at the strategic realities. The US government has at its disposal more high-powered, sophisticated armament than any nation our planet has ever seen. Along with vast stockpiles of conventional armaments are biological, chemical and strategic nuclear weaponry -- including the neutron bomb, nuclear artillary, and God knows what else -- all designed to kill or disable people while leaving the material infrastucture relatively intact. Remember: the United States is the only nation that has used nuclear weapons in anger, and done so on two occasions. After World War II, populations of Pacific islanders were conciously used as nuclear test subjects, covered by fallout during hydrogen bomb expolsions, and then studied. And the US government has frequently used such weaponry on its own citizens. Biological agents have been tested on a number of large population centers, including the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland, Oregon. Nuclear tests were done on unsuspecting and unwarned resident of Idaho, New Mexico and Nevada. Government personel closely studied the effects of these tests, watching large numbers of US citizens sicken and die, while denying all knowledge of the cause. These people -- "Down Winders" they call themselves -- are still suffering. Radiation, biological and chemical experiments have been carried out on unsuspecting American citizens for over 40 years. Dispite strident government denials, they are quite likely going on this very day. This is not some wacko "conspiracy theory". It is part of the historical record, a record you are free -- for the present -- to inspect. No doubt every chemical and biological agent the US government has at its disposal has been secretly tested on unsuspecting Americans, in service of our "National Security." "Do Anything. Deny Everything. Never Give Up." This is the motto of the National Security State. So we know that the power elite in this country are capable of doing anything to defend against a percieved threat. Remember, there is no great love in the halls of power for San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles. Large urban areas are seen as bastions of "liberal" culture, full of malcontents and welfare bums. In the event of *serious* civil strife, you can be certain as the day is long that the State would not hesitate to decimate the populations of however many American cities it would take to regain control. 500,000 military personel died in the Civil War. The resolve that lies behind this figure has, if anything, become firmer in the last 100 years. To argue that US citizens should engage in armed encounters with the United States Government can only be described as irresponsible, self destructive, adolescent posturing. I repeat: VIOLENCE IS WRONG. IT WON'T WORK. IT WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU HOLD DEAR. Educate yourself. Educate others. Work for peace, and work for justice.
