Editors Note
In the Fall/Winter 1994 issue of The Alternative Orange, we published an essay, “The Stupidity that Consumption is just as Productive as Production” (also in College Literature, October 1994) which contained a critique of Michael Sprinker's rightward practices. In the February 1995 issue of College Literature, the editors of College Literature, have published Mr Sprinker's response to that critique without providing an opportunity for the author to engage his text. As an oppositional paper committed to public discourses on issues that are central to social change and the role that intellectuals play in bringing about such changes, we here publish the author's response to Mr. Sprinker's “Letter to the Editor” in College Literature.
